3 Things You Need to Know About A/C Efficiency

May 11th, 2017

  1. Thermostat Settings: In the summer, keep your house warmer than normal when you are away, and set the thermostat to 78°F (26°C) only when you are at home and need cooling. Programmable thermostats will avoid any discomfort by returning temperatures to normal before you wake or return home. NOTE: There is a misconception that increasing the temperature will make your system work harder to cool the house when you are ready to do so. The fact is a higher interior temperature will slow the flow of heat into your house, saving energy on air conditioning.
  2. Air Flow: To maximize heat transfer, uninterrupted airflow is needed through the ducts and across the evaporator. Check the air filter each month, as a clogged filter can increase cooling costs by up to 15%.
  3. An ounce of prevention…: Professional preventative maintenance pays for itself in energy savings, fewer repairs and a longer-lasting system. Consider a maintenance plan to keep your air conditioner in tip-top shape
